Lunchtime
Lunch Area
1. The only place for children to sit and eat lunch is on the seated area outside Rooms 12-14, the tree by Room 20 (not on the Room 20 steps or behind buildings) or outside Rooms 2/4. Children should be seated in the shade.
2. When the bell rings at 12.30 all children must move to this area quickly and be seated.
3. In terms 1 and 4 the Fendalton sunhat must be worn, or children must sit under the R20 tree. There are no other shade areas that they may sit under.
Lunch Expectations
1. All children must eat most of their lunch and have all lunchtime to do so. They do not need to rush in time for the first bell.
2. Children remain seated for at least the first 15 minutes of the lunch hour. After this time a duty adultwill ring the outside bell or ask a student to do this.
3. Until the outside bell is rung all students must remain seated – no moving around during this first 15 minutes. Children should not have any sports equipment out at this time.
4. When the bell rings children who are ready to go must put up their hand, but remain seated. They must wait for an adult supervisor to let them go. Lunchboxes should be open ready for the supervisor to check.
5. Adult supervisors should check that children have eaten enough of their lunch and may ask them to eat more.
6. Adult supervisors will also check that any wrappers, packets etc are in lunchboxes, and not left lying around. If the nearby area has rubbish in it, students will need to stay until the area is tidy. Each supervisor has his/her own area to supervise so if an area is untidy it will be followed up!
7. Vests must be worn by supervisors and they carry a bum bag. These can be found in the workroom off the staffroom. Please note that after morning tea supervision these will be returned to the staffroom.
