Students and parents can log in and access the student intranet at home or anywhere on the internet at any time. The programme we use for this is called FirstClass. This allows you to view daily notices, download home learning and post items to your class intranet. FirstClass is a highly controlled, safe and customisable environment for students to share and learn within.

There are two ways you can log in to and use the Fendalton School FirstClass intranet system:
1. By downloading and using the FirstClass software programme, or
2. By using your internet web browser.

Method 1: How to download and install FirstClass…
The FirstClass client is a free piece of software that works on both Mac and Windows computers. Follow these instructions for downloading and installing it:
1. Open your web browser and go to this web page: fc.fendalton.school/ClientDownloads/ , then follow the steps for selecting either Mac or PC versions of the software.

2. Download and install the programme on your computer (you need to know how to install a programme in order to do this- check with your parents first).

3. Double click the FirstClass icon to start the programme. A login screen like this will appear →

4. You will notice there is no Server, User ID or Password information in this screen.

5. Click the Setup and the Service Setup screen will appear:

6. Type in (for example):

a. User ID: room14
b. Password: room14
c. Server: fc.fendalton.school.nz
d. Click Save.

7. Click Login and you will have access to the Fendalton Intranet for students and parents. Team 14 students have further access to their own Intranet.

8. Please Note: Do NOT send emails to the Fendalton Intranet. Students are only allowed to make bookings in liaison with their teacher. Please refer to the school “Digital Safety Guidelines” for guidance about appropriate use of the internet, FirstClass and other digital technologies.

Method 2: How to log into FirstClass via your web browser…
You can also log into the Fendalton FirstClass intranet using a web browser. This is almost as good as method one. Follow these instructions:

1. Open your web browser and go to http://fc.fendalton.school.nz/login/

2. Type in (for example):
a. User ID: room14
b. Password: room14

3. From here you will see the FirstClass desktop, which gives you access to the following range of tools:

a. Mailbox- parents please do not use this; use your own email account.
b. Fendalton Intranet (this is the main student intranet for students to use. It contains daily notices, bookings of resources and locations within the school, roster for receptionists, Tools 4 Kids).
c. Team 14 Intranet (home learning, notices/news, portfolios of learning, chatrooms and so on).
d. Contacts- used to keep personal email addresses (ie. Mum/Dad, friends, etc.)
